Trick Shot Guide: Bounce, Bank, 360
Every trick shot technique in the HowToFish.click fan-made browser game, with the exact math.
The multiplier stack
Your final catch value is built from four layers:
- Base - species value (e.g. Sunset Bass $320).
- Weight - about $5 per kg, rolled per catch.
- Bounces - 1 + 0.5 × bounces, capped at 6 bounces = 4x.
- Bonuses - 360 spin ×1.5 and harpoon defeat ×1.6 multiply on top.
A 7 kg Sunset Bass with 4 bounces, a 360 and a harpoon kill: (320 + 35) × 3 × 1.5 × 1.6 ≈ $2,556. That is why trick shots matter more than rarity.
Skip shots on open water
Water skips are the bread and butter. Release the lure at a very flat angle - under roughly 15 degrees above horizontal - with near-full power. Each skip bleeds speed, so:
- Rod level 2+ (1050 power) is where skip chains become reliable.
- One skip is easy from any rod; three skips need a flat release and a calm aim.
- Aim so the final skip lands on top of a fish - the hook happens instantly on contact, preserving the chain.
Pillar ricochets in Rocky Cove
The cove has four pillars at roughly x=850, 1300, 1750 and 2150. The lure reflects off them with a ping and a RICOCHET popup, keeping most of its speed - ricochets chain far better than skips.
- Position the boat left of the first pillar.
- Aim at the gap between pillar 1 and pillar 2, flat enough to stay airborne.
- Let it bank pillar 1 → pillar 2 → water, then hook a fish waiting beyond the second pillar.
The classic three-bounce line for the Triple Bank achievement is: pillar at 1300 → water skip → pillar at 1750 → water. Practice the geometry in the trick shot simulator, which uses the same physics.
The 360 spin, reliably
The 360 bonus needs one full circle of drag rotation while aiming. Do it in two motions: (1) drag far out to set a large radius - a small circle is hard to register and easy to misread; (2) spin the finger in a steady loop and watch the ring around the rod tip fill. When it glows green with 360! SPIN READY, release the cast - the bonus applies to the next successful catch on that cast.
Two warnings: releasing the cast cancels the aim (and keeps the bonus only for that cast), and spinning changes your aim angle - plan to finish the circle pointing where you want to throw.
Common failures and fixes
- Lure pierces instantly - release angle too steep. Flatten it.
- Bounces but no fish - you banked for style. Pick the fish first, then draw the bank line to it.
- Bank into the cliff - land contact retrieves the lure. Keep the line inside the cove.
- 360 ring resets - you reversed direction mid-spin. Keep one continuous direction.
